Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm)

Program Description:

The Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) is a program under the School of Allied Health Sciences. It is a four (4)-year degree program, with a total of 169 credit units consisting of general education courses and professional courses. Its foundation courses includes pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmacotherapy and life sciences that will help prepare the students to acquire competencies necessary in the workplace as pharmaceutical care provider, researcher, manager, entrepreneur, public health worker, analyst and pharmacy educator. It also includes internship programs in the last year that involve assigning students to different CHED- accredited affiliation establishments covering a minimum of 1,200 hours. Interns will be exposed to a variety of opportunities in practice areas that will prepare them for the different roles expected of them upon graduation.

The curriculum of the pharmacy program is designed in accordance to the needs-based professional education model of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) (published in the 2012 FIP Global Pharmacy Workforce Report) with consideration of the needs of professional practice and the Filipino society, the scope of the practice of pharmacy as stipulated in Section 4, Article 1 of the Philippine Pharmacy Act (RA 10918), the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF), the Philippine Practice Standards for Pharmacists (PhilPSP) and other international professional competency standards.

Graduates of the program may be employed in community drugstores, hospital establishments, drug/cosmetic laboratories, academic institutions, research, public health and regulatory units. BS-Pharmacy program is a good preparatory course for the study of Medicine.

Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT)

Program Description:

The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy is a four-year program consisting of general health education and professional courses.

The first and second semesters of the fourth year level is a one thousand six hundred (1600) hours of clinical internship program in a CHED-DOH accredited training respiratory laboratory with rotation duties in different sections of one or more hospitals.

Rotations in different clinical areas include Pulmonary Diagnostics, General Respiratory Care, Adult Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care Unit, Sleep Laboratory, and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT)

Program Description:

The Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy is a four-year degree program consisting of general education and professional courses. It also includes an internship program that involves assigning students to different CHED-accredited affiliation centers that cater to various patient/client populations for a minimum of 1500 hours.

The intern/student, during the course of the training, must have exposure to a variety of opportunities that will prepare them for the different roles expected of them upon graduation HEIs may provide a minimum of 1200 hours of clinical experience which include patient/client evaluation and management from different populations including but not limited to: neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, pediatric, geriatrics, well population and community-based rehabilitation.

A minimum of 160 hours to a maximum of 300 hours should be used to provide training opportunities for a combination of other roles termed herein as non-clinical rotation Institutions may provide purely clinical rotations, purely non-clinical relations, or a combination thereof, provided that the hours dedicated to each are clearly specified.

Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRadtech)

Program Description:

Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRadtech) is a four-year degree program consisting of general education and professional courses. The fourth year is undertaken as a Clinical Education Training Program in accredited affiliation centers. The program affords training in general radiography and the special fields of Radiology including Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Interventional Radiology, and other emergent fields.

The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology program aims to produce radiologic technologists who are imbued with 21st century skills and are competent to fulfill professional responsibilities in the following areas: diagnostic imaging, therapeutic and interventional procedures, radiation safety and protection, patient care, administration and management, education, research, entrepreneurship, and life-long learning.

Career Opportunities:

Radiologic Technologist: Graduates can work as radiologic technologists in hospitals, clinics, diagnostic imaging centers, or private practices. They perform diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and mammograms and assist radiologists in interpreting the results.

Radiation Therapist: Graduates can specialize in radiation therapy and work alongside oncologists to administer radiation treatments to cancer patients. They operate advanced radiation equipment, ensure patient safety, and provide emotional support to patients during treatment.

Sales and Application Specialist: Graduates can work for medical imaging equipment manufacturers or companies, providing technical support, training, and sales assistance to healthcare facilities using their products.

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist: Graduates can specialize in CT scanning and work as CT technologists. They perform CT scans, maintain equipment, and collaborate with radiologists to obtain high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.

Educator/Instructor: Graduates can pursue careers in academia or training institutions, sharing their expertise by teaching radiologic technology courses to future students or providing continuing education for practicing professionals.
