About the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) is a program under the School of Allied Health Sciences. It is a four (4)-year degree program, with a total of 169 credit units consisting of general education courses and professional courses. Its foundation courses includes pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmacotherapy and life sciences that will help prepare the students to acquire competencies necessary in the workplace as pharmaceutical care provider, researcher, manager, entrepreneur, public health worker, analyst and pharmacy educator. It also includes internship programs in the last year that involve assigning students to different CHED- accredited affiliation establishments covering a minimum of 1,200 hours. Interns will be exposed to a variety of opportunities in practice areas that will prepare them for the different roles expected of them upon graduation.

The curriculum of the pharmacy program is designed in accordance to the needs-based professional education model of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) (published in the 2012 FIP Global Pharmacy Workforce Report) with consideration of the needs of professional practice and the Filipino society, the scope of the practice of pharmacy as stipulated in Section 4, Article 1 of the Philippine Pharmacy Act (RA 10918), the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF), the Philippine Practice Standards for Pharmacists (PhilPSP) and other international professional competency standards.

Graduates of the program may be employed in community drugstores, hospital establishments, drug/cosmetic laboratories, academic institutions, research, public health and regulatory units. BS-Pharmacy program is a good preparatory course for the study of Medicine.
