Bachelor of Arts in English Language

About the Program

Bachelor of Arts in English Language with an aim of producing globally-competent graduates, San Pedro College is one with all other Philippine universities and colleges in responding to the need for proper use of the English language in global communication in this twenty-first century. It is believed that the English language is the medium used in the pursuit of knowledge, the advancement of science and technology, and the development of business and industry. It gives humankind access to the infinite resources of the internet and thus enables countries to work together to achieve their common goals. New information and research findings are efficiently shared in this international lingua franca (CHED Memorandum Order, No. 24, Series of 2017).

The courses in the program are designed to integrate theory and practice to prepare the students for effective communication in English in diverse contexts and situations. Hence, the program aims (1) to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the English language – its origin, growth, development, structures, and use; (2) to enhance the student’s competencies in the use of the English language in the real-world contexts; and (3) to present appropriate strategies of language use through a heightened awareness of how English works in different situations in the Philippines and in Asia and the rest of the world.
