THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

The Office of Student Affairs is a learner-focused center that provides and coordinates programs, services, and activities supporting the co-curricular and curricular needs of SPC students. This support structure contributes to their holistic formation towards becoming persons imbued with a profound faith in God, a healthy sense of self, a heart committed to building communities and serving others with love.

GOAL

In line with the Vision, Mission and Core Values of San Pedro College, the mandate of the Office of Student Affairs is to pursue the goal to enhance the quality of campus life by fostering an environment that:

  • promotes order, safety, and welfare
  • enshrines the core values of SPC
  • provides venues and opportunities for students to develop their gifts and potentials

FUNCTIONS

  1. Exercise discipline and enforce the college disciplinary procedure consistently, implement rules and regulations governing student behavior judiciously.
  2. Provide adequate non-academic support programs and activities contributing to the integral development of students.
  3. Recognize, accredit, supervise, monitor, and evaluate the operation of clubs and organizations seeing to it that their constitutions and by-laws are being observed, that social responsibility is being practiced, and students’ socio-political awareness raised.
  4. Create opportunities to develop and enhance talents abilities and values for appreciation, promotion, and conservation of Filipino culture and heritage.
  5. Set up and direct a system of evaluation and control to ensure that the student services sector remains responsive to the emerging non-academic needs of the students.
  6. Provide other student services that it deems necessary eg. Classroom reservations lost and found receipt and retrieval, etc.
  7. Perform other functions as may, from time to time be entrusted by the College President or the Vice President for Administration and Planning.

OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS PROGRAM AREAS

  1. Campus Policies Development and Enforcement
    The office enforces non-academic rules and policies that define the student norms of conduct stipulated in the Student Manual to be followed by all students. The OSA constantly reviews campus rules and policies as they are as seen as guides for students in their formation towards maturity. It enforces these policies in close coordination with the Security and Safety Office, the Discipline Committee, academic heads as well as other related offices.

  2. Access to Services and Facilities
    The office provides direct services that respond to specific student needs. Students can avail of these services provided that they follow their corresponding policies and procedures:

    • Access to and dissemination of information through bulletin boards 
    • Accident insurance processing 
    • Student Emergency Load Fund  (SELF) for students in immediate need of money
    • Lost & found receipt & disposal
    • Issuance of certifications/recommendations
    • Rental of lockers for interested students
    • Lending of calculators
  3. Student Leadership and Governance

    The OSA promotes Christian leadership and good governance for the studentry. It is responsible for accrediting and monitoring all student campus organizations. In partnership with student leaders, it works for the organization and strengthening of governing student bodies: the SALIGAN Supreme Student Council, the Student Congress (SC) the organization representing all class presidents, and the League of Clubs and Organizations (SC) the organization representing all accredited clubs and organizations in the campus.

  4. Cultural Arts and Sports Development
    Recognizing the gifts and potentials of students in the area of music, theatre, vocal arts, the OSA works with the SPC Performing Arts Coordinator in developing and showcasing talents in performing arts. Students who excel in performing arts will have the opportunity to compete in inter-school competitions.
