Senior High School Program

Hooray! We are delighted to share the successful culmination of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) course entitled “”𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬””. A collaboration between San Pedro College, Philippines, and Kansai University, Japan!

Throughout the engagement, professors achieved their goals for the students: instill and activate the students’ intercultural understanding and enhance their awareness of the presence of mathematical concepts, specifically statistics and probability,
in different cultural contexts, while fostering basic cross-cultural communication skills. At the end of the program, students shared in their reflection that they were able to attain the initial examples of how statistical and probabilistic thinking manifests in various cultural contexts and how these concepts are communicated
in Japanese and Filipino cultures.

Ultimately, this journey has been a testament to the power of intercultural collaboration and the transformative potential of global online learning.
