San Pedro College (SPC) kicked off its first day of the 70th anniversary weeklong celebration on Sept. 24 at the SPC Ulas Campus, opening the festivities with a welcoming activity and the launch of SPC Horizon Legacy Project.

Day one brought together alumni, stakeholders, faculty and members of the SPC community for the Welcoming Activity and Fellowship Night, which featured a homecoming cultural showcase before transitioning to the project launching.

Introduction of “From Main Campus to Ulas: Building the Furniture” set the stage for the launching program, which formally proceeded with its opening activities and stakeholder acknowledgment.

In her opening remarks, SPC President Sr. Aida Frencillo, highlighted the institution’s commitment to developing a future-oriented campus for the SPC community.

“It is our major commitment to create a world-class work environment … May this project be a great response to the generosity of those who plead for us and our promise to those who will come up with us. Together let’s build a future and leave a legacy worthy of its mission,” Frencillo said.

A digital walkthrough of the SPC Ulas Campus Development Plan followed, alongside the presentation of a digital SPC scale model before presenting its investment campaign to stakeholders.

June Prieto, Legacy Council Committee Member and Rhine Gildore of the SPC Senior High School faculty led the invitation to stakeholders to pledge their support for the Horizon Legacy Investment.

Message of support from German Alderite, Jr., PTA President of SPC Ulas, highlighted the significance of the inviting seven-decade milestone.

“70 years is more than a milestone. It is a testament to the enduring legacy of the institution that has reminded people of its mission and values while continuing to grow and expand,” Alderite said.

Additionally, Lutcie Castor-Ford, an alumni of the BSN 1980 5-year program, connected the anniversary to the responsibility of shaping what future generations will inherit.

“It is not only about remembering what we came for, but also about communicating and asking ourselves, what can we do today that will make a difference for those who come after us? And after learning more about my Horizon Legacy Project, I see it as exactly that,” she said.

Succeeding activities will continue through until Oct. 1, including Balik-Turo, a medical mission, the Platinum Dash, the Alumni League Championship and the anniversary’s culminating programs.
