Celebrating creativity, culture, and collaboration, the San Pedro College (SPC) Internationalization and Linkages Office (InterLink) held its three-day InterLink Week โ TRANSCEND 2026: Trailblazing Relationships Across Nations, Sharing Cultures and Embracing New Dimensions โ from March 11 to 13 on campus, themed โForging Global Bonds, Celebrating Shared Cultures,โ aiming to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
On the first day of the event, an opening program was held in the morning featuring speakers in the field of local and global entrepreneurship and the launch of the ukay-ukay bazaar, where SPC students and invited vendors sold curated pre-loved clothing promoting sustainability and responsible consumption, alongside other items such as charms and food selections.
โI am encouraged, imagining a world of future possibilities because of all we see in the next generation of purpose-driven entrepreneurs,โ expressed Rachel Woods, international guest speaker and clinical associate professor at the Hankamer School of Business, Baylor University in Texas, USA.
Subsequently, a โTalk on Trendsโ segment featured three entrepreneurs โ Cacao de Davao CEO Ethan Lim, JP Disenyo Dabawโs Lorelee Pasia, and GMCDL Corp. Managing Head Sheryl Razo โ who shared their experiences and advice on starting and managing businesses.
Updates on the institutionโs internationalization efforts through its global mobility program were also presented during the program.
Engaging in thorough discourse among different universities and international partners, the second day followed with the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Conference and the Pasundayag Cultural Night.
Highlighting efforts in developing global learning through cross-cultural collaboration, the COIL conference hosted guest speakers Dr. Woods, Dr. Hope Windle, director of SUNY COIL Center, and Dr. Kimberly Lacomba, the associate professor of Global Leadership, as they tackled strategies for expanding international academic partnerships, fostering intercultural learning, and preparing students for a globally connected workforce.
Later in the afternoon, invited faculty and students expressed their experiences in COIL through an interactive panel discussion.
Ending the second day, Pasundayag welcomed participants to a showcase of Mindanaoan culture, spotlighting SPC Kultura and Kabilin performers with an array of cultural dances such as the Karatong, Lapay, Binuyagan, and others.
Matigsalog representatives presented stories through song and dance, encouraging the participants to dance alongside them, while international partners from Mexico and Brazil introduced their country and culture through audio-visual presentations.
โTonight, of course, we gather not simply for a program, but for a celebration of culture, creativity, and the human spirit expressed through the arts,โ said Roy Villanueva, the SPC Culture and Arts Coordinator, describing the event as a commemoration of diverse cultures and artistic tradition.
Concluding the three-day celebration, the final day of TRANSCEND 2026 featured presentations from participating institutions highlighting the practical implementation of COIL projects in their respective programs.
Faculty members and educators shared their collaborative outputs and reflected on the learning outcomes achieved through cross-border academic partnerships.
The presentations underscored how COIL initiatives can foster intercultural competence, collaborative problem-solving and innovative teaching approaches, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation in higher education.
