Embodying the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, the San Pedro College (SPC) Pharmacy department showcased their collective talents in a carnival-themed fellowship event entitled “Arcana: Vinculum Aeternum (Eternal Bonds)” last Jan. 20 at the SPC Gymnasium.

To foster unity and collaboration across all year levels, students were grouped into four mystical factions: the Elusive Shadows, Enigmatic Ravens, Wailing Sirens, and Valiant Serpents.

Referencing the upcoming Mindanao Alliance of Pharmacy Schools (MAPS) competition in his opening remarks, Associate Dean of Pharmacy Daniel Joshua Pendon launched the event by encouraging students to utilize the fellowship as a foundation for future departmental goals.

“Let’s have this time to pause, have fun, and celebrate […] not just connections, but talents, camaraderie, and of course, we need to prepare for MAPS,” Pendon encouraged.

Festivities officially commenced with a symbolic torch-lighting ceremony led by JPPhA Chi-Pharmakon President Lovelle Maramara and the respective team heads, signaling the start of the morning competitions.

Teams then fought for championship in the Flag Raising, Vocal Solo, Pop Dance, Race of Remedies, and Halarolympics competitions.

Open-category teams ‘Cutie Pattotie’ and ‘Bolakball’ struggled for saves in a game of Giant Volleyball, with the former group claiming the winner’s title.

Regality and poise highlighted the evening program as the spotlight shifted to the runway in the Icons and Couture event, where representatives donned elaborate carnival-inspired attire that captured the essence of the ‘Arcana’ theme.

Following the contests were intermission numbers by the faculty members, students of Batch Atrekes Sthenos, and a DJ session by Nigel Braw and Jed Ignacio.

Bands ‘ICHI GO!’ and ‘6,7’ also entertained the audience with their song medley performances.

Culminating the fellowship with his closing remarks, Pendon reaffirmed the value of “family and camaraderie” displayed during the event as essential preparation for the department’s upcoming endeavors.
