Continuing their winning streak, the San Pedro College-College Red Cross Youth Council (SPC-CRCY) emerged as the overall champion in the Interschool First Aid Competition (ISFAC) 2025 college category on Sept. 13 at the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) Bajada Campus, claiming their sixth consecutive title.

Held in celebration of World First Aid Day 2025, ISFAC tested the first aid skills of RCY councils from the elementary, high school, and college levels under the theme “Saving Lives in a Changing Climate.”

“Given the pressure to defend the throne for the sixth time, we started our preparations in July,” SPC-CRCY President Randelle Roi Capa said in an exclusive interview.

He shared that the council opened the training to freshmen volunteers regardless of background, gathering 32 participants who trained rigorously under experienced alumni and designated team leaders, with the guidance of James Michael Remonde, their adviser,

Beginning the program with an opening ceremony, it was followed by the oath-taking of participants, a zumba warm-up, and the simultaneous instructions for each event.

Judges evaluated participants based on proper demonstration and application of procedures, cleanliness, and tender loving care in patient handling.

SPC-CRCY swept all events in the college category, earning Best in Bleeding Control and Bandaging Relay, Best in Basic Life Support, Best in Situational Problem Solving, Best in Splinting Relay, and Best in Patient Transfer Relay, securing its overall victory.

Capa emphasized that teamwork and communication were the key factors behind their win. Despite challenges such as conflicting class schedules among participants from different departments, he noted that resilience and discipline carried the team to success on competition day.

SPC-CRCY aims to continue strengthening its first aid training as it looks ahead to future competitions, ensuring the continuity of its mission to champion first aid awareness and lifesaving skills within and beyond the campus.
