𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐂𝐨𝐧 ‘𝟐𝟓, 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤-𝐭𝐨-𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐧

Engaging in empowered discussions with fellow scribes, The Rock Student Publication of San Pedro College (SPC) took part in the Campus Conference (CampCon) 2025 held at the Caraga State University (CSU) HERO learning commons auditorium, June 10-11, where they clinched victories in both newspaper categories.

For the second straight year, The Rock’s official broadsheet triumphed among competing newsletters, while Petros 2024 “Lilim” placed second in the magazine category.

Investigative journalist Raya Capulong, along with editorial cartoonist and satirist Cartoonist Zach, headlined the two-day conference as plenary speakers, immersing the student journalists in interactive talks, forums, and practicum sessions.

Additionally, host student publication The Gold Panicles spearheaded the social night following the opening day, where attendees enjoyed a spirited celebration featuring light-hearted competition and camaraderie-building activities.

CampCon is an annual initiative by CSU through its school publication that started off as an intraschool conference and has since expanded into accommodating different institutions.

This year’s fourth iteration is anchored on the theme “Mending the Cracks: Media’s Role in Bridging Political Fault Lines,” focusing on the role of media platforms and responsible journalism in mending polarized sociopolitical discourse.
