𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗫𝗜 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗣𝗖 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺

Davao City, March 13, 2025 – The San Pedro College (SPC) School of Medical Laboratory Science (SMLS) recently underwent a Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) evaluation by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI) to assess its readiness to offer the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) Major in Population Health for Academic Year 2025-2026.

The BSPH program prepares students to address health concerns at the population level, focusing on epidemiology, health equity, public health policies, and evidence-based interventions. The BSPH graduates are also eligible to take the Medical Technologists Licensure Examination (MTLE), broadening their career paths.

After evaluating SPC’s compliance with faculty, curriculum, laboratory, and facility requirements, the RQAT found merit in its application and will recommend the approval of an Initial Permit for 1st and 2nd year levels. Once approved, SPC will begin accepting students for the program.

The RQAT team was led by Dr. Liza C. Suan, Education Supervisor II, with Dr. Avee Joy B. Dayaganon as one of its members. Their assessment reaffirmed SPC’s capability to meet CHED standards and its commitment to delivering quality education in public health.

With a proven track record of producing competent, compassionate, and skilled healthcare professionals, SPC remains committed to enhancing health outcomes and strengthening the healthcare system. The introduction of this new program reflects SPC’s dedication to developing public health professionals equipped to address population health challenges while also ensuring career flexibility for its graduates.
