Brimming with grit and determination, San Pedro College School of Nursing (SPCโ€“SON) officially kicked off the long-awaited Nursesโ€™ Days 2026 with the theme, โ€œFortis: Rising Beyond Shadows, Fueling the Flame Within,โ€ on Jan. 28โ€“29 at the SPC Gymnasium and across multiple venues outside the campus.

Early in the morning, the Parade of Teams opened the celebration, featuring the clusters of Inaga, Imora, Ryuzen, and Kunaris in their respective colors of yellow, green, red, and purple.

The opening ceremony was followed by the torch lighting, oath-taking of participants, and opening remarks by Jocelyn Cataraja, Dean of SON.

โ€œWe are truly a lion, a fortis of courage and strength [โ€ฆ] Being fortis is not about arrogance, but itโ€™s about knowing ourselves, who we are and who we can be,โ€ she said.

Competitions commenced with the Mother Angels and Liveliest Delegation, amplifying the energy for the succeeding activities.

Other tournaments simultaneously continued in the afternoon, consisting of various academic events such as Di Ba Teh, Quiz Bee, Essay Writing, and others.

At the same time, sports and e-sports events were held on and off campus, narrowing down the participants to the finalists and winners.

Pop Dance and Battle of the Bands participants hyped the crowd with their powerful performances, as the bands showcased their renditions of famous songs from Paramore and โ€œHot and Coldโ€ by Katy Perry, among others, wrapping up the first day with dynamic stages.

Beginning the second day, players from Ryuzen and Imora faced off in the Volleyball Womenโ€™s and Basketball Menโ€™s Finals, with Ryuzen clinching the Volleyball Championship and Imora securing the Basketball Menโ€™s title; an individual awarding ceremony for first-day events followed.

Candidates of Mr. and Ms. Angels took the afternoon spotlight, dressed in uniform, formal, and creative attire that embodied Fortisโ€™ mystical and oriental theme.

Intermission performances from Vocal Solo, Duet, and Impersonation contestants filled the gaps between pageant segments, completing the lineup of socio-cultural events with song and dance.

Guest band If and When performed โ€œCloser,โ€ โ€œFolded,โ€ โ€œBeauty and the Beat,โ€ and many other hit songs, as nursing students enjoyed the nightโ€™s festivities.

Ultimately, Inaga emerged as the overall champion, followed by Ryuzen as first runner-up, Imora as second runner-up, and Kunaris as third runner-up.

BSN Fraternity & Sorority President Nao K. Tanaka expressed his happiness with the success of Fortis.

โ€œIโ€™m really happy that Fortis 2026 is a successful event [โ€ฆ] there are problems siguro โ€” internal, and di man jud nato siya maiwasan. But also, with the feedback of our co-nursing students, we believe it was really successful. And me, together with my co-officers and committee members, weโ€™re really happy about it and excited to share this success with our co-nursing students,โ€ he shared.

(Iโ€™m really happy that Fortis 2026 was a successful event. There are internal problems that we cannot really avoid. But with the feedback from our co-nursing students, we believe it was truly successful. Together with my co-officers and committee members, we are happy and excited to share this success with our fellow nursing students.)

With the 2026 Intramurals underway, SON seeks to defend its four-peat championship title by taking the first step with Fortis.
