The School of Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health (SMLSPH) of San Pedro College celebrates another milestone in research excellence as Dr. Marx P. Catalan, RMT, Associate Dean of SMLSPH and Coordinator of the Master of Science in Medical Technology (MSMT) program, received the Best Cluster Paper, Best Cluster Presenter, and Overall Best Paper Presentation awards during the 57th PAGE International Convention and General Assembly of the Philippine Association for Graduate Education (PAGE) Philippines, Inc., held at Lyceum of the Philippines University–Cavite on August 27–29, 2026.

Dr. Catalan earned the distinctions for presenting the study, “From Graduate Voice to Institutional Action: A Convergent Mixed-Methods Evaluation of a Master of Science in Medical Technology Program for Curriculum and Policy Enhancement,” conducted in collaboration with Dr. Jasmen Sabroso Pasia, Dean of SMLSPH.

The award-winning research utilized a convergent mixed-methods approach to examine graduate feedback and generate evidence for curriculum enhancement and institutional policy improvement. By integrating quantitative and qualitative data, the study provides valuable insights that support continuous quality improvement in graduate medical technology education.

The recognition comes as San Pedro College celebrates its 70th Founding Anniversary, highlighting the institution’s enduring commitment to research, innovation, and quality graduate education. The study also reflects the College’s pursuit of evidence-informed academic excellence and aligns with the convention theme, “Graduate Education as a Catalyst for ASEAN Integration: Advancing Regional Excellence through Collaboration, Innovation, and Quality Assurance.”

This achievement further affirms SMLSPH’s growing contribution to advancing medical technology education through meaningful research that informs institutional practice and the broader academic community.
