SPC SMLSPH Receives DOH Regional Sandugo Awards 2026 Category 4 Recognition

DAVAO CITY – The School of Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health (SMLSPH) of San Pedro College (SPC) received the Category 4 Award during the Regional Sandugo Awards 2026 of the Department of Health Davao Center for Health Development, held on July 30, 2026, at Apo View Hotel, Davao City.

The award was received by Dr. Jasmen S. Pasia, Dean of the School of Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health, and Ms. Clarissa Mae B. Garciano, BSMLS Internship Program Coordinator, on behalf of the School.

The award recognizes the School’s valuable contribution to the National Voluntary Blood Services Program through its promotion of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation.

The recognition was earned through Blood Serves 3.0, San Pedro College’s Voluntary Blood Services Program, which recorded 391 successful blood donations through six blood donation drives. This is the second Regional Sandugo Award received by the School, recognizing the sustained implementation of Blood Serves, its voluntary blood donation program, which has been successfully conducted for the past three years.

The initiative was spearheaded by the BSMLS Class of 2026 – Batch Ilaysaha Interns through the Interns’ Organization, whose officers and volunteers led the planning and implementation of the campaign. It was conducted in coordination with the Society of United Laboratory Scientists (SOULS) and the SPC Community Extension and Engagement Services, with the support of the San Pedro College Administrators, the Facilities Management Office (FMO), Internship Coordinators, Clinical Instructors, and faculty members.

The School also acknowledges its community partners, Barangay Vicente Duterte, Agdao, and Barangay Centro Agdao, for their continued collaboration in promoting voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation. Above all, the School expresses its deepest gratitude to the 391 voluntary blood donors, whose generosity helped save lives and made this recognition possible.

Celebrating its 70th Platinum Jubilee Founding Anniversary, San Pedro College continues to uphold its tradition of service through meaningful community initiatives such as Blood Serves. This achievement reflects the College’s enduring commitment to public health and its mission of forming healthcare professionals who serve with competence, compassion, and a heart for others.
