San Pedro College (SPC) Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) interns of Batch Ilaysaha gathered for the Velaris: Interns’ Night 2026, held on June 13 at The Tent at Azuela Cove, Davao City, celebrating the culmination of their academic and clinical internship journey.

Kicking off the event, Clinical Internship Coordinator Clarise Maye Garciano delivered her opening remarks, followed by the message of gratitude by Clinical Internship Coordinator Ray Gomez, acknowledging the different partner institutions who cultivated the interns’ perseverance and growth throughout their training.

β€œWhen you first stepped into the laboratories of our clinical partners or partner agents, you came not just as learners; you were uncertain, eager, and still finding your footing, but our agency partners received you not as strangers but as their own… They shape not only our interns’ skill, but their discipline, their integrity, and their respect for the lives that depend on the work that we do,” Gomez said.

Awarding ceremonies followed, recognizing agency representatives and clinical instructors through tokens of appreciation while also honoring interns who excelled in various minor and distinction categories.

Major awards, including the Stellar Intern Award conferred upon Kathryn Joyce Millan, were likewise presented to nominees and recipients who demonstrated excellence across different areas of training.

Passing the Key of Responsibility from Batch Ilaysaha officers to the incoming set of leaders preceded the presentation of the batch song, special awards, and performances prepared by the Battle of the Bands crew.

Schools of Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health (SMLSPH) Dean Jasmen Pasia delivered the closing remarks, emphasizing compassion and excellence as guiding values for future medical laboratory professionals.

Looking back on the event, Batch Ilaysaha President Danielle Anne La Rosa reflected on the meaning behind β€œVelaris” and shared her thoughts during an interview.

La Rosa explained that the theme β€œVelaris,” inspired by the fictional city known as the β€œCity of Starlight,” symbolizes the batch as a β€œdark horse” with strengths that extend beyond academic performance, emphasizing the talents and resilience that defined their journey.

β€œTo all the dreams that have been gone, still the stars listen to us, and now we’re here graduating and being able to overcome what we went through… It has been a very big fulfillment for me… and I’m very proud, not only sa akin, but to the rest of the batch officers, which is a very big achievement for all of us.”

Interns capped off Velaris β€˜26 with group photographs and conversations among peers, signaling the close of the celebration.
