In celebration of International Women’s Day, San Pedro College (SPC) invited women from different fields to share empowering talks with the theme “Give to Gain” on March 6 at the Philomene Labrecque (PL) Hall and SPC Gymnasium.

Led by the Gender and Development (GAD), the program was divided into two sessions, with the morning segment featuring employees and women’s association representatives, while the afternoon focused on addressing students’ struggles.

“There’s a need to recognize the plight of women; personally, I can say that we are somewhat lucky here compared to others, particularly outside the country, but nevertheless it is important to recognize the plight of women and provide a venue where different experiences, voices, and perspectives can be discussed for the good of women,” said Julienne Misty Inguillo, chairperson of GAD and Family Welfare.

Alongside the talks, a women’s exhibit for “Sulong Juana” was set up outside the PL Hall, showcasing stories of women professionals from the SPC community through photos and feature articles.

Keynote speakers Bambeth Mahal Jambangan-Diez and Gina Lamzon shared insights on challenges faced by women and on building personal and professional relationships.

Speakers from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) were also invited to encourage women’s participation in economic development, with Marry Glocel Cantones discussing livelihood programs and Iza Beth Villareal presenting the measurement program.

During the afternoon session, each department invited an alumna representative who shared experiences on challenges faced by students and offered advice.

“I hope that the overall event and the celebration we planned achieved its goal, which is to highlight and showcase the beauty of us women,” Inguillo said.

Before the program concluded, students from the Personality Development class presented their film outputs highlighting womanhood.
