Anchoring to the theme, โ€œAnchors Aweigh: 2nd General Assembly and Advanced Mentorship Trainingโ€, San Pedro College (SPC) Student Mentors Group (SMG) redirected their plans and mentoring skills through their second general assembly at the Philomene Labrecque (PL) Hall on March 8.

SMG Moderator, Asleya Raihan Alim, shared in her opening remarks the importance of their general assembly, reaffirming the organizationโ€™s direction and its role as mentors to the students, and emphasizing collaboration among members.

โ€œYou are not mentoring alone, you are part of a team that shares the same mission,โ€ she said.

President Jude Vincent Mirabueno soon presented the calendar of activities for the second semester, highlighting future projects that addressed SPC scholars, School of Counseling and Psychology (SCP), first-year School of Nursing (SON) students, and featuring the SIGE Program for SPC Scholars, Project Lucas, Biyaheng Highway of Care, and more.

Guest speaker Reynaldo Sumalinog II โ€” ranked 9th among the topnotchers in the 2025 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE) and former member of SMG โ€” recalled his journey as a nursing student and the struggles he faced in the PNLE.

โ€œWhat makes you succeed in life is that you have the grit. You have the determination, passion, and a heart of service [to] God,โ€ he remarked as a reminder to the members.

He later gave tips and advice to the participants, emphasizing factors to consider in mentoring, such as a personโ€™s study style, and tailoring appropriate techniques to ensure collaborative learning.

They assessed their understanding through a workshop in which groups interpreted assigned pictures and shared insights, followed by a short team building activity in which they jumped through four stations of team games.

In recognition of their efforts, SMG members applauded the mentors who contributed their knowledge and guidance to SPCians during the first semester.

Nearing the end of the program, auditor Farah Cana concluded the general assembly with her closing remarks, thanking the attendees for their participation and the committees for the successful event.

Currently, SMG continues to extend its mentoring services to the student body as subsequent plans showcase its drive to teach and foster student growth.
