Celebrating cultural heritage with the theme β€œAni ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting,” twelve member-schools of the Davao Universities and Colleges Network (DACUN) converged at the Philippine Women’s College of Davao (PWCD) on Feb. 15 for Siklab 2026, the official DACUN Academic, Culture, and Arts Festival.

Festivities began with the singing of the invocation and national anthem by Koro Kantahay, the University of the Philippines Mindanao (UPMin) chorale, followed by the Davao City March and DACUN Hymn.

Highlighting the event as an avenue to strengthen culture and the arts within the region, DACUN President Vicente Antonio Pijano III set an empowering tone in his opening remarks.

β€œThis festival is more than just an event; it is a place of creativity where academia meets artistry, where Davao’s brightest minds converge to showcase innovation, heritage, and shared dreams,” Pijano highlighted.

Upholding fairness and camaraderie within the competition, student-athlete and national archery gold medalist Kristine Madeline Ibag led the participants in pledging the Oath of Sportsmanship.

Formally commencing the roster of events, Leah Cabang and Jesus Montajes, respective chairpersons of the DACUN Student Affairs Committee (SAC) and Culture and Arts Committee (CAC), officially declared the opening of Siklab.

Competitions then simultaneously commenced at PWCD’s open ground, Mansaka Lobby, Multimedia Room, and RSM Events Center.

UPMin’s Dance Ensemble, Violin Duo, and Koro Kantahay entertained the audience with their intermission numbers throughout the event.

Siklab also unveiled its official theme song, β€˜Silakbo’, produced by San Pedro College (SPC), as the sole entry and winner of the Song Writing & Music Creation event.

Launched this year, Siklab 2026 stands as the debut of DACUN’s recurring intercollegiate meet for academic excellence and cultural artistry.
