𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤’𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐂𝐌𝐂 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞

Bringing local stories to the national spotlight, The Rock, the official student publication of San Pedro College (SPC), engaged in the 16th National Campus Media Conference (NCMC) in Angeles City from Sept. 25 to 27.

Petros, entitled “Portraits of Becoming Bold and Shifted,” claimed 6th best campus magazine.

Along with 1st best inside page layout, the issue also secured 3rd best development communication page and 4th best feature stories.

Meanwhile, their broadsheet trumped the newsletter category with 4th place in editorial content, 5th in opinion articles, and 6th in editorial cartoons.

Broadsheet’s opinion section underscored political fanaticism, information illiteracy, progress of the Davao-Samal bridge, and dress code lifting during the last SPC intramurals.

In the digital publishing competition, The Rock champed the photojournalist distinction.

Reane Venisse Bermudo caught the winning shot of a thrower’s hands molding clay at Pampanga Pottery.

Together with Bermudo, the team was composed of Pio Angelo Tingzon, Lourdes Marie Ybiernas, Alexa Nicole Ramajo, and Chloie Justine Dominisac.

Also awarded was George Ryan Gallardo as best dressed in regional attire for his Tausug portrayal.

The Rock’s delegates further included Michaella Marizze Hiceta, Datu Al-Qadir Alleeh Camsa, Isabel Amor Paracha, Donna May Ferrer, Hart Alagaban, Erica Danielle Salumbides, Rob Andrie Rotone, Ian Miguel Kabigting, Anna Camille Lauron, Viktoria Louise Cataraja, Blue Thandie Agullana, Eunice Joyce Wong, and Technical Adviser Arjay Arcena.

NCMC is an annual confab with this year’s run attended by 1,197 campus journalists from 104 academic institutions, the highest number of participants post-pandemic.

Its 17th installment is set for Cebu City in the next academic year.
