SPC MSMT Graduate and Faculty Researchers Earn Top Awards at the 15th Regional Health Research and Development Expo

MSMT Graduate and faculty researchers from the School of Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health (SMLSPH) of San Pedro College achieved outstanding recognition at the 15th Regional Health Research and Development Consortium XI (RHRDC XI) Health Research and Development Expo, held on October 1–2, 2025 at the Apo View Hotel, Davao City.

1st Place – Poster Competition: Ms. Hyacinth Mae M. Ang, RMT, MSMT, with mentor Dr. Marx P. Catalan, for her MSMT thesis, “Prevalence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in Davao del Sur.”

2nd Place – Oral Research Competition: Ms. Channey Tinapay, RMT, MSMT, together with the SMLSPH RDE Team, for the faculty project, “Health Tank: Establishing Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) System at Balderas Integrated School, Davao City.”

3rd Place – Oral Research Competition: Ms. Rachel Ann Eromon, RMT, mentored by Dr. Jasmen S. Pasia, for her MSMT thesis, “Antibiotic Resistance Profile of Bacterial Isolates in Hospital Effluents in Davao City.”

These achievements underscore the excellence of the Master of Science in Medical Technology (MSMT) Program of SPC, with graduate theses producing impactful research in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and public health. They also highlight the commitment of SPC faculty to community-responsive innovations.
