Bringing pride and sustaining excellence, San Pedro College (SPC) Chorale clinched a gold award in the Category S – Musica Sacra and a silver award in the Mixed Choir Category (B2) during the 9th Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF), held July 23 to 27 at the Victoria Concert Hall and Esplanade Concert Hall, Singapore.

25 participants from the Davao-based ensemble upheld the nation’s pride on the international stage competing against renowned choirs across the globe.

Among the 25 participants, five were graduates from Batch 2025 β€” Ariannelle Glen Louise Gonzales, Stacey Sophia Velez, Christian Paul Malacad, Adonis Khristian Lebrillo, and Jose Georquell Billones; five were alumni of the SPC Chorale β€” Carmelo Jude Bascon, Rhea Mae De Los Reyes, Razel Joyce Tonelete, Solayma Marie Castillo, and Angelica Castellano; thirteen were current members of the organization β€” Beatrice Lynx MontaΓ±a, Jin Emilien Bordios, Kyla Marcellones, Eulyn Joy Nicmic, Andrea Kathleen Arreola, Angela Beatrice Agravante, Vianna Arabella Abines, Richmond TJ Dapar, Randy Dela Cruz Jr., Francis Ken Ulep, Alvin Carl Naldoza, Jan Ian Gabriel Casia, and Andriel Duane Rabor; and the remaining two were the moderator and conductor of the event β€” Jeremiah Ben Godines and Richard Salas, respectively.

β€œWords do not describe how immensely proud I am of the group as I have witnessed their struggles from the very beginning of their practices, their send-off concert in preparation for the competition, and the final rehearsal before their flight to Singapore,” Alessandra Gabrielle Argoncillo said, who was the SPC Chorale incoming president.

According to Argoncillo, the group had regular five-hour practices and prepared six pieces for the two categories that they contended.

β€œIt was a moment of pure pride and overwhelming joy, knowing how much heart, sacrifice, and passion went into each performance on that very stage,” she added.

Meanwhile, Vianna Arabella Abines, alto representative shared about the challenges they faced such as facing pressure, and aligning their schedules especially that their alumni were working and some of the participants were taking summer classes.

β€œBut, we didn’t let our exhaustion or doubts overpower our dream to perform and win on an international stage outside the country as it has long been a dream of the SPC Chorale β€” for San Pedro College, for the Philippines, and for God,” she shared.

Abines also emphasized that beyond their shared passion for singing and their drive to succeed, it was the strong bond between the participants that truly led them to victory.
