Association of Psychology and Human Services (AssoPyscHSS) and the School of Counseling and Psychology (SCP) spearheaded its camping-motif general assembly โ€œTRAILHEAD: The AssoPyscHSS and SCP Joint Kickoffโ€ on Aug. 18 at the San Pedro College (SPC) Gymnasium and Saint Therese (ST) building.

AssoPyscHSS President Kheila Vania Servano officially began the program with a welcome message to the students, serving as both a welcome event for first-year students and a re-orientation for returning students.

โ€œYouโ€™re becoming someone who can hold space for others, and thatโ€™s a powerful thing,โ€ she reminded the aspiring mental health professionals.

SCP Dean Henry Yap discussed the schoolโ€™s vision, mission, and goals, as well as the courses taken to be “professionally competentโ€ to procure psychology-related careers, also discussed by the dean.

Continuing where Yap left off, the departmentโ€™s Associate Dean Ruth Marie Zosa explained SCPโ€™s academic policies.

โ€œThis is a reminder to all first years and lower years: Please involve yourselves in different activities,โ€ the associate dean emphasized with regard to acquiring graduation honors.

Christine Mae Pasion, the AssoPsycHSS External Vice President, gave the Community Engagement and Extension Services (CEES) report, including the previous projects Tandang Kalinga and Kadasig, and this school yearโ€™s proposed project Kauswagan that focuses on helping out-of-school youths.

AssoPsycHSS General Treasurer Ronah Faye Sinsuat followed with the Treasurerโ€™s Report, dissecting past and current budgets, as well as membership fees and sanctions.

Wrapping up the first part of TRAILHEAD, the organizationโ€™s Internal Vice President Eilyazen Carillo informed the students about AssoPsycHSSโ€™ activities open for everyone, including the core group committees and the annual AssoPsycHSS Days.

For the afternoon program, Rosa Medel Libot, Office of Student Affairs (OSA) Assistant Head, delivered the rules and regulations expected to be followed by students, as well as other services they offer.

โ€œAllowed na si medium brown but no lighter than the medium brown,โ€œ she said, pertaining to one of the newest changes in the schoolโ€™s dress code.

[The medium brown hair color is now allowed, but no lighter than the shade.]

Offices such as the Spirituality and Formation Center (SpiCe), Registrar, Guidance, Counseling, and Testing Center (GCTC), and Scholarship also delivered a re-orientation presented by Mission Life In-Charge Dave Jhonn Catam-isan, Head Maria Louisa Lucino, SCP Guidance Facilitator Asleya Raihan Alim, and Head Liezel Ann Felongco, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Health and Wellness Center (HWC), Learning Resource Center (LRC), and Information and Communications Technology Center (ICTC) shared their audio-visual presentations.

Simultaneous to the re-orientation are the breakout rooms of the first years at the ST building, wherein they carried out their classroom elections.

Freshmen students joined the rest in the gymnasium for their welcome rituals.

Moderator Gecelle Grace Galenzoga-Diez introduced the new Board of Directors and gave a short speech of encouragement.

โ€œAnother year, another [set of] people to love,โ€ the moderator shared her mantra.

TRAILHEAD 2025 marked its end with a closing speech by AssoPsycHSS Secretary Princess Paranas, thanking everyone for attending.
