Attended by student leaders from non-institutional organizations, the League of Clubs and Organizations (LCO) closed out the academic year with their 2nd General Assembly (GenAss), which featured leadership talks and various team-building activities entitled “Agora: Olympians of Strength and Symphony” on May 30 in Saint Therese (ST) rooms 703-704.

The morning session of the assembly was led by invited speaker and former International Students Organization (ISO) president Vincent Arcite, who talked about making the most of being a student leader.

“Life does not end in College, continue to live, lead with integrity, empower others, aspire for more, and dare to be brave for the world and to the community,” the speaker shared.

Arcite also pushed the attending student leaders to be more compassionate, determined, and empathetic as, according to him, that’s what the world needs.

During the afternoon session, Community Engagement and Extension Services (CEES) Director Apple Kim Hisoler led a plenary session on building resilience as a leader after the team-building activity.

“Being resilient doesn’t mean you’ll never fall, it means you’ll always get back up … even if it’s slow, even if it hurts, it’s about believing in yourself when things get tough,” Hisoler said.

Moreover, pursuant to the goal of creating a safe space for the student leaders, the assembly allotted a session in the assembly called โ€œAgora Insights.โ€

The said session served as a “Kumustuhan” where representatives from different organizations shared both positive and challenging experiences as leaders after being prompted by a question.

Meanwhile, executive officers delivered yearly reports regarding the organizations’ various undertakings that spanned throughout the academic year.

General Secretary Andrea Paula Basquez discussed the School Year Activity Report, while Vice Governor Heaven Baro presented the amended Constitution and By-Laws of the league, and outgoing Governor Haniffiyya Jumdail proposed the organization’s tactical plans for the upcoming school year.

Fifty-one student leaders from 19 non-institutional organizations that are part of the LCO were present during the assembly.
