Alternative Learning System

About the Alternative Learning System

The Alternative Learning System (ALS) is a parallel learning system in the Philippines that provides opportunities for out-of-school youth and adult (OSYA) learners to develop basic and functional literacy skills, and to access equivalent pathways to complete basic education.

A viable alternative to the existing formal education system, ALS encompasses both non-formal and informal sources of knowledge and skills. As a second chance education program, it aims to empower OSYA learners to continue learning in a manner, time and place suitable to their preference and circumstances, and for them to achieve their goals of improving their quality of life and becoming productive contributors to society.

SPC-ALS Garner 100% Passing Revalida Rate

All 12 SPC Alternative Learning System – Accreditation and Equivalency (ALS – A&E) Secondary Level learners successfully passed the screening and revalida examination by the Department of Education last April 21, 2021 held at San Roque District and spearheaded by the Education Specialist of ALS A&E Alicia Q. Daballos with the assistance of the District ALS Coordinator Carmelita B. Flores.

The usual Sunday face to face class of ALS learners was changed to modular delivery type of teaching-learning due to restrictions brought by the COVID 19 pandemic. The strategy worked well among the learners especially since most of them are having jobs during the day.

The learners’ success in passing the revalida examination would promote them to Senior High School. It will be another journey they have to embark to reach their dreams of attaining a better quality of life.
