ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS »

For Valedictorian / Salutatorian

  1. Objectives
    1. To contribute to the development of human resource power.
    2. To encourage those who are mentally capable to develop their God-given potentials to pursue an academic course at San Pedro College.
    3. To provide leadership for the SPC studentry both in academic and co-curricular activities.

  2. Qualification of Candidates
    1. Graduated as Valedictorian / Salutatorian of his / her class; such honor must be duly certified by the principal of the school where he/she graduated.
      1. Valedictorian –
        1. 100% tuition fee discount for the Valedictorian of a class with 80 or more graduates
        2. 50% tuition fee discount for the Valedictorian of a class with less than 80 graduates
      2. Salutatorian –
        1. 50% tuition fee discount for the Salutatorian of a class with 80 or more graduates
        2. 25% tuition fee discount for the Salutatorian of a class with less than 80 graduates
    2. Passed Entrance Exam of San Pedro College.

  3. Requirements (In duplicate)
    1. Application letter addressed to the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee.
    2. Certification of honor from the Principal which states number of graduates.

  4. Academic Policies
    1. Academic Load
      1. A grantee is required to carry a full semestral load on a baccalaureate course he is to take as prescribed in the curriculum of San Pedro College.
      2. A grantee is required to finish the course within the prescribed period of four years or five years, as the case may be
      3. Extension may be allowed for one year for meritorious cases.
    2. Grade and Subject Load
      1. The scholarship shall be subject to renewal each succeeding semester only if the student maintains the required WPA (Weighted Point Average) of:
        • 90% - for Valedictorians with no grades below 83 for every subject
        • 88% - for Salutatorians with no grades below 80 for every subject
      2. The grantee meets the required standard academic grades for scholars, i.e. no incomplete grades and failing marks.
      3. The grantee shall not drop or change any his/her subject.

  5. Rules and Regulations
    1. The grantee must undergo interview with the Chairperson of the scholarship program at least once a year.
    2. Renewal of scholarship must be done at least 3 days before enrolment.
    3. The grantee who wants to shift to another course must secure approval of the Chairperson of the Scholarship Program.
    4. Request for shifting of course must be done in writing and not later than the first semester of the Second Year.
    5. The grantee is encouraged to participate in co-curricular or extra-curricular activities of the school.
    6. The grantee must attend all meetings or seminars for scholars.
    7. Fill out the attached semestral Self-Evaluation/Progress Report on his/her academic and co-curricular activities.

  6. Grounds for Termination of the Grant
    1. Failure to maintain academic rating requirements;
    2. Membership in any subversive organization and/or participation in any subversive activity or any activity inimical to the interest, or humiliating to the school, or that which puts the school in dispute;
    3. Violation of any of the regulations of the College, as duly certified by the Committee on Student Conduct;
    4. Failure to comply with the normal unit load requirement of his/her program curriculum;
    5. Failure to renew scholarship at least three (3) days before enrollment;
    6. Undergoing any Psychiatric Care; and/or confirmed psychological impairment;
    7. Other acts of the grantee which may be considered inimical to the interest and objectives of the scholarship program.
    8. Involvement in any activity which manifests disloyalty and lack of commitment to promote the good name of the college

FOR GROUNDS NUMBER 1, 4 AND 5, A WRITTEN WARNING SHALL BE SERVED PRIOR TO THE ABSOLUTE TERMINATION OF THE GRANT.


NOTE: The scholarship will be enjoyed by the grantee during summer only if the subjects are regular summer loads (not and advanced subject).
