This is a 4-year degree program which aims to develop a foundation in the fundamentals of medical laboratory science and to make it responsive to the demands for manpower in the paramedical service utilizing an array of complex precision instruments and a variety of highly innovative technologies to determine the presence, extent, or absence of disease and provide data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. The graduate will have the opportunity to work in the clinical laboratories of hospitals and clinics, in the research centers, academic institutions, drugs and diagnostic industries, forensic laboratory and other health related institutions. The BMLS is most ideal as a preparatory course leading to the study of Medicine.

The Logo is the official symbol of the department. There are four colors in the logo – blue, white, yellow, and black. Blue and White are the official colors of San Pedro College, Blue is the symbol of loyalty to the Gospel of Christ, and White stands for purity that characterizes the spirit of serving in love, and the love that characterizes the spirit of service. Yellow symbolizes wisdom, like the energy of a bright sunny day, yellow brings clarity of decision-making and awareness of responsibilities for human lives. The shade of yellow brings joy and happiness obtaining ultimate satisfaction through helping and serving others by applying their skills. Black is associated with mystery and the unknown which describes the nature of work of the Medical Technologists/Clinical Laboratory Scientists in searching for the underlying causes of illness and disease to aid clinicians in giving accurate diagnosis and treatment to patients.

The Microscope stands for the Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science Profession. The Staff of Asclepius (single serpent around a rod) symbolizes healing. The medical technologist performs a full range of laboratory tests-from simple blood tests, to more complex tests to uncover patient diseases through the use of microscope. However, with the advancement of technology nowadays, medical technologists, in their search for data on a patient's health, do much more than examine specimens through a microscope; they operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments. All of these are geared to bring back patients’ health.

At the base of the microscope is the school motto “Love Serves” which is derived from the spirituality of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, a Carmelite, whose love for God dominated her every act. The founding of the school was attributed to the intercession of St. Therese, the patroness of the college.
